About the event
I’ve lost my hair, among many other things to cancer. A doctor told me that losing my hair would be the hardest thing about a cancer diagnosis - he was absolutely wrong, it’s been the best part. Losing my hair has allowed me the opportunity to feel beautiful without hair (something I had an absurd amount of and was used to being complimented on my whole life). It also taught me to stop worrying so much about what’s on the outside, and focus more on what is on the inside. My relationship with God has never been more real, and although still fighting the cancer battle there’s a sense of peace I never knew existed. That’s what matters. Any of the little things that annoyed you today, forget them. Don’t go to bed angry, be thankful for your health and take care of your body every day. Don’t dwell on things taken away, but the opportunities in front of you. Life’s short, don't EVER miss the opportunity to dance. - Sami Pickens 06/29/2020
